different styles offered.

Yin.

An expanding & deep practice that targets the deep connective tissues (ligaments, tendons, fascia) rather than focusing on the muscle. The poses are typically held for 3 to 5 minutes to encourage a deep stretch and improve flexibility. There is a consistent emphasis on “yielding” to gravity– urging you to find your edge, become still & allow gravity to bring you deeper into the pose, rather than pushing or forcing. Through the use of our mind-body connection and deep breathing, this style helps to release tension stored both physically and mentally. This practice is ideal for those looking to enhance joint mobility, reduce stress and tension, develop patience and mental clarity, or cultivate a sense of expansion within the body & mind.

Restorative.

A slow & gentle practice focused on relaxation and self soothing, with the optional use of props such as blankets, blocks, and bolsters to support the body into restful poses. The goal is to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting deep relaxation and stress relief. Poses are typically held for 1 to 3 minutes, allowing the body to fully release tension and restore balance. This style emphasizes mindfulness, slow breathing, and conscious relaxation to create a sense of safety & peace for both the body and mind. This practice is particularly beneficial for those recovering from injury, experiencing chronic stress, healing from trauma, or seeking to nourish & soothe their nervous system.

Vinyasa.

A dynamic and fast flowing practice that links breath with movement, creating a rhythmic flow that keeps the body in constant motion. This practice can vary in intensity, offering both challenges and opportunities for fluidity, balance, and strength. This practice often uses sun salutations as the foundational flow, linking a series of poses together based on the focus of the flow. Poses are often held for only a breath or two; the fast pace cultivates a real sense of groundedness and presence that guides you through the continuous transitions (on the mat & off!) This style is perfect for those seeking to build endurance through a physically engaging practice, improve flexibility, build strength, or cultivate mindfulness in their life through a moving meditation.

"And in doing these movements and postures that our everyday life does not call for, we begin to get a sense of freedom in our bodies. Our bodies get to move the way they want to move. Our feet get to be out of shoes and socks and feel the ground. Our arms get to reach above our heads and extend in all directions, in front of us and beside us and in back of us. Our spines get to flex and extend and twist. Our hips get to rotate and feel circular movements in their sockets. And just these very simple, natural combinations of movements can begin to unlock our natural desire to be free in our bodies and to be free in our minds." - Rodney Yee.

what makes yoga with me different?

a. My biggest intention, above all, in every class I lead is to help my students cultivate a deeper sense of safety, spaciousness, and awareness within their bodies. Our bodies are constantly sending us messages, knowledge, & signals that so often go unnoticed and ignored. I believe that by intentionally creating a safe space to meet ourselves & cultivating the habit of tuning into our bodies wisdom, we are better able to understand our own needs, hear our inner voice’s guidance & create a fulfilling, aligned life for ourselves. Yoga, for me, is one of the most powerful, healing & empowering movement practices to guide you to your highest, most authentic self. A class with me is more than just movement—it’s a thoughtfully crafted experience designed to help you feel deeply safe, present, and attuned to your body, so that the awareness you cultivate on the mat naturally extends into your everyday life.

C. In addition to a tailored practice curated for your specific goals, and the two key elements mentioned above, I weave in pranayama (breathwork), mindfulness techniques, affirmations and little pockets of intuitive wisdom. These tools are designed to help you release negative thought patterns, build healthier self-talk, promote deeper presence and clarity, and to ensure that every class is about more than just our bodies but also our minds, spirits and heart. The deep care I hold for each student, & my love for fanning that fire in others truly makes itself known in the poetic & thoughtful way I create my Yoga flows. It is that intention, care & steadfast dedication to honoring the ancient Yogic principles- along with my gentle, playful & intuitive teaching approach- that makes a Yoga class with me unique! 🙂

b. Two key elements I weave into all of my classes is a focus on pelvic floor connection and anatomical alignment, both of which are essential for overall body strength, health and stability! Both of which are also portals into deeper embodiment of self, awakening our sensuality, and truly feeling into this present moment. Prioritizing proper anatomical alignment helps maintain the natural curve in your spine, reducing back, neck and shoulder pain, & teaches you how to protect and stabilize your body as you explore asana’s (poses). Building an awareness to your pelvic floor muscles can protect your reproductive system, improve sexual pleasure, and most importantly (I believe), nurture your connection to the divine feminine within you, through the endless pool of wisdom, bliss, & power that is held within our womb’s.
